We're dedicated to the golf maintenance profession and encourage a group dynamic that is open, resourceful, and fun. Our Board meets regularly to discuss agronomy as it relates to the Big Island, to plan educational sessions, social events, and community activities.
Our Board
Scott ("Kimo") is Chief Golf Course Superintendent at Waikoloa Beach Resort and a member of the BIGCSA board. Starting as a bag boy, he moved up to golf clerk at Waikoloa, then worked as an assistant golf pro at Makalei and Waikoloa Beach Resort. Kimo shifted to the maintenance side of the business as a spray tech and moved to Mauna Lani where he was promoted to Assistant Golf Course Superintendent under Tim Snelling, CGCS, for 12 years. He truly loves what he does and loves working with his crew, plus fellow golf course superintendents on the Big Island.

Scott, CGCS, is Director of Golf Maintenance at Nanea Golf Club and previously spent three years at Mauna Kea Resort. He has worked at courses throughout the country including New York, Texas, California, Maryland, and Ohio. Scott attended The Ohio State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy. His passion for turf is rooted in an appreciation for nature, viewing himself as "a glorified dirt farmer living the dream." He was awarded the 2017 GCSAA - Golf Digest Environmental Leaders in Golf National Award for a Resort Course and currently serves as President of BIGCSA. GO BUCKS!
Luke Bennett
Board Member
A Colorado native, Luke now grows grass for cash as the Golf Course Superintendent at Kohanaiki. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Turfgrass Management from Colorado State University and has worked at renowned private courses throughout Colorado and Northern California. Luke is thankful to be in Hawaii and for his success in the turf industry since his early days of caddying for the likes of John Elway. Luke is currently the Vice President of BIGCSA.
Dan Husek
Dan is Director of Golf Maintenance at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. Prior to joining the Four Seasons Resort grounds maintenance team in 2004, Dan worked at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Mangilao Golf Club, Mangilao, Guam. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1994 and currently serves as BIGCSA's Treasurer. How did he get his motivation to join the turf world? "My Dad pushed me into becoming a Golf Course Superintendent... so that he could play free golf."
John Marshall
John has been a BIGCSA board member for more than twelve years and is currently serving as Treasurer. He is the Sales Manager for Simplot in Kailua Kona, Hawai'i, and has been servicing the golf industry for more than 19 years. John is happy to be working and raising his family at home on the Big Island.
Chad Twaddle
Vice President
Chad is the Director of Golf Maintenance at Mauna Kea Resort and a member of the BIGCSA Board. Chad oversees golf maintenance at Mauna Kea Golf Course and Hapuna Golf Course. He previously worked in Northern California and enjoys traveling the world and leaving his mark wherever he can.
